VOLVO OCEAN RACE PANEL AT US SAILING'S ANNUAL MEETING US SAILING's Annual Meeting, scheduled for Nov.
15-19 in Newport, R.I., will also be the site of an exciting, educational
panel on the Volvo Ocean Race on Friday, November 17 at the Newport Hyatt on
Goat Island from 5 until 6:15 p.m. Participating in the panel discussion are
Stan Honey, navigator on the winning team of ABN AMRO One; Ken
Read, helmsman and tactician for Ericsson Racing Team; Jerry Kirby,

ISAF Nation's Cup, is returning to defend his title at the U.S. Match Racing
Championship, which kicked off today at Fort Worth Boat Club in Texas.
Judging by the list of entries for this National Championship, the
competition will be very fierce. Angel will meet other well-known sailors

Rolex recently announced that US Sailing Team member Paige Railey has been
named to the shortlist of the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year award. The
only USA sailor on the shortlist, Railey joins ten other world-class sailors
nominated for this prestigious award. This is the second consecutive year
that 19-year-old Railey has been named to the Sailor of the Year shortlist.
The winners will be announced on November 7 in Helsinki, Finland. Railey was
recognized for the World Sailor of the Year award for her outstanding
performance in the Laser Radial during the nomination period (September 1,
2005-August 31, 2006). LATEST WORLD SAILING RANKINGS RELEASED BY ISAF Earlier today, the International Sailing Federation
(ISAF) released the latest World Sailing Rankings. After over a year at the
top of the Laser Radial Rankings, US Sailing Team member Paige Railey lost
the number one spot to fellow US Sailing Team member Anna Tunnicliffe. With
the biggest ranking points total across all eleven events, Tunnicliffe now
sits on top of the world ahead of Belgium's Evi Van Acker, while Railey has
moved to third best in the world. In the Star class, George Szabo and Eric
Monroe are second in the world right now, with Mark Mendelblatt and Mark
Strube climbing from 11th to fifth. LOOKING TO SUPPORT OUR SPORT? BECOME A VOLUNTEER With another successful summer sailing season behind us and US SAILING's Annual Meeting coming up next month, US SAILING is seeking volunteers with financial expertise to serve in various capacities such as the audit and budget committees. Much of the work of these committees is conducted via e-mail and conference calls, thus reducing geographic location as a concern. Members who are CPAs or who have experience working with financial management, taxes and/or budgeting and are interested in giving back to the sport are encouraged to contact Bobbi Warren, CFO-Director of Finance, at 401-683-0800 or via e-mail at bobbiwarren@ussailing.org. Please include a statement of your relevant experience. KNOW HOW TO FIX YOUR OWN BOAT WITH THIS HELPFUL BOOK
