US SAILING Annual Meeting Guidelines
|
US SAILING holds its annual meeting in October, normally alternating between the East and West Coasts. In addition, a spring meeting, designed for board and committee work, is held in the central states. Both meetings are open to all members and interested parties. US SAILING welcomes meeting invitations from sailing associations, yacht clubs, and communities. As the National Governing Body for the sport of sailing, US SAILING is committed to promote and encourage the sport in all parts of the country. Groups wishing to host a US SAILING meeting should examine the following guidelines that are intended to assure successful meetings. All attendees are volunteers and are responsible for their own expenses. Normal attendance is approximately 200 persons. City: Local area sailors, sailing associations and yacht clubs are an important part of US SAILING meetings. There should be a local host committee to arrange a reception, assist US SAILING staff in planning and providing volunteers to assure successful meetings. A nearby major airport with good ground transportation is a necessity. Hotel: US SAILING meetings require a minimum of 16 committee rooms, and one large hall to accommodate 300 to 400 persons. Normally 100 to 125 hotel rooms are booked for each meeting. Fall meetings run from Wednesday through Sunday, and Spring meetings from Thursday through Sunday. In addition, the facilities must be non-discriminatory and provide adequate handicap access. The following sites have been approved:
Proposals for future meetings should be sent to the Site Selection, US SAILING. |
