US SAILING's
commitment to sailors is to provide safe, fun and successful sailing experiences for everyone who wishes to become involved with sailing. The US SAILING KEELBOAT SYSTEM offers seven experience levels of certification that follow the "building block" technique of compiling learned skills with experience.  Once earned, these certification credentials, in conjunction with your continuing experiences, are recognized by charter companies and sailing schools worldwide as the status of your accomplishments in the world of sailing. Choose your sailing lesson provider and charter company carefully, and insist on a school that offers the accepted national standard in sailing education - US SAILING CERTIFICATION.  The Keelboat Certification System was developed to provide quality training and certification in keelboats for daysailing, coastal cruising, bareboat chartering, navigation and offshore passage making. This system offers the sailing student many advantages:

"Since I completed both Basic Keelboat and Cruising certificate programs I have chartered twice (bareboat). I found the training to have adequately prepared me for those sails. [My instructor] demonstrated extreme patience and perseverance in making sure we, his students, understood the practices and, more importantly, the concepts necessary for safe sailing."
