US SAILING

Commercial Sailing Keelboat Program

The US SAILING member Commercial Sailing Schools, Sailing Clubs, and Charter Companies offer a unique and comprehensive "home base" for sailors, whether just starting out as a novice, preparing for extensive cruising, or in need of a bareboat to sail.

The philosophy is simple.  Sailing is a skill that is learned and improved upon over time.  For the successful beginner, this means gaining a combination of both education and experience - usually, and most logically,  from the same provider.  As experience is increased, new levels of knowledge and learning can be added in a systematic way.  The US SAILING KEELBOAT SYSTEM is designed to provide this type of consistent "building block" approach, allowing individuals to take their sailing skills as far as they want to go, and at their own pace.

The US SAILING KEELBOAT SYSTEM offers seven experience levels of certification that follow the "building block" technique of compiling learned skills with experience.  Once earned, these certification credentials, in conjunction with your continuing experiences, are recognized by charter companies and sailing schools worldwide as the status of your accomplishments in the world of sailing. Choose your sailing lesson provider and charter company carefully, and insist on a school that offers the accepted national standard in sailing education - US SAILING CERTIFICATION.
