With finishes in the last three 29er races on Wednesday race of a 1st, an 8th and a 2nd  Emily Dellenbaugh  (Easton CT) and Briana Provancha (San Diego, CA) have won the 29er Class with a total score of 19 points. Oliver Toole and Willie McBride finished with a 2nd, a 1st and a 4th to post 22 points, 10 points ahead of Judge Ryan and Hans Henken with 32 points and finishes today of a 12th, 6th and 3rd.

By virtue of their victory, Dellenbaugh  and Provancha  will be the female team representing the United States at the 2007 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Kingston, Ontario, Canada July 12-21, 2007. The male team representing the United States will be Oliver Toole and Willie McBride, both of Santa Barbara, California.

 

Colin Smith of Fort Lauderdale, FL took full advantage of the ideal sailing conditions to create his own success on the final day of the 2007 Youth Champs in the Laser Full Rig Class. With strong finishes of 6th and 2nd in Laser Races 10 and 11, Colin Smith overhauled the leader after three days of racing, posting a score line of 42 points. David Hernandez of Miami, FL, who finished today with a 17th and a 19th in the two races completed dropped into 3rd place overall with 64 points. Fred Strammer (Nokomis, FL) also finished strong with a 3rd and 4th today, moving into 2nd place with 56 points.
 

Tyler Sinks and Morgane Renoir of San Diego CA won the last race (Race 11) in the C420 Fleet and finished 3rd in Race 10 to cap a really great day for this team. Taylor Canfield  (St. Thomas USVI)  and Perry Emsiek ( Corona del Mar, CA) finished with a 3rd in Race 11, combined with a 1st in Race 10. This battle ended with Sinks and Renoir taking the overall title in the C420 Fleet and the Canfield/Emsiek team finishing in 2nd place for the series. With 46 points, Chris Bernard of (Newport Beach, CA)  and Nichole Popp (Tampa, Fl)  nailed down third place in the series.

 

Ian Heausler (Tampa, FL) has won the Radial division with Justin Doane (Nokomis, FL) in second and Anne Haeger (Lake Forest, IL) in third.  Haeger will also be attending the 2007 ISAF Youth Worlds next month in the Radial division.

 

At the Awards dinner, the ballots for the David M Perry Sportsmanship Trophy were counted and the winners were announced.  Dave himself presented the keepers to the winners in each fleet.

Radial: Justin Doane  (Nokomis, FL)

Laser: Josh Garber   (Wickford, RI)

29er: Judge Ryan (San Diego, CA)  and Hans Henken (Coronado, CA)

C420: Joe Morris (Annapolis, MD) and Alex Sachs (Coral Gables, FL)
