Full Report - Day 5

It was a long but productive day on Lake Pontchartrain.  After yesterday's disappointing racing,   PROs Nathan Adams and Chris Clement were able to run five races for the C420, Laser and Laser Radial Courses and four races for the 29er fleet.

 

Emily Dellenbaugh and Briana Provoncha  in the 29er Fleet, remained in the lead just two points ahead of  Oliver Toole and Willie McBride.  Dellenbaugh and Provoncha displayed great downwind speed and the ability to come from behind again and again over the four races today to maintain there narrow margin over Toole and McBride.  Judge Ryan and Hans Henken remain in the hunt with 19 points, only six points behind the leader.  The final day of racing for 29ers should see 3 races with exciting racing action in the 29er fleet to come to determine a 29er Class winners and the United States representatives for the male and female divisions to the Volvo ISAF Youth Worlds in Canada next month.

 

In the Club 420 Class, it was “move up” day for Tyler Sinks and Morgane Renoir as they posted finishes of 4,1,4,1,and 6th in the 5 races completed, overcoming second day leaders Halsey Richartz and Eliza Richartz, who fell to 4th overall.    Taylor Canfield and Perry Emsiek also had a good day, moving up to 2nd overall; just 8 points behind the C420 leaders.   Chris Barnard and Nichole Popp are 16 points back of the leaders in 3rd place.  

 

Colin Smith in the Laser Full Rig Class, made a strong move into the lead with finishes today of 19 , 1, 5, 3 and 10.  With his drop, he has replaced David Hernandez in the lead, who remains in 2nd overall after an OCS (dropped) in race 8 and a 15th in Race 7.  Fred Strammer also had a great day on Tuesday maintains his 3rd place overall.

 

In the Laser Radial Class,  with 37 points Justin Doane moved into the lead replacing day 2 leader Sam Padnos who dropped to 6th overall with 56 points after a 14th in race 5, an OCS in race 6  and an 11th in race 7.    Sam Blouin moved into 2nd with 44 points posting finishes of 5, 2, 3, 14 and 1 in the 5 races today.  Blouin is now one point ahead of Ian Heausler with 45 points.  Ann Haeger is just 4 points back in 4th with 49 points.
