U.S. Junior Women's Championship Committee
What we do:
The Junior Women's Championship Committee is responsible for raising the level of awareness and interest of young women sailors in sailboat racing in the United States through implementing consistent racing standards and management support of regattas as well as running the U.S. Junior Women's Singlehanded Championship for the Nancy Leiter Clagett Memorial Trophy and the U.S. Junior Women's Doublehanded Championship for the Ida Lewis Trophy. The Committee runs the Junior Women's Championships as the best junior women's championship regattas in the nation for competitors and spectators.
Who we are:
The U.S. Junior Women's Championship Committee consists of a Chair and other members who represent the interests of junior women sailors geographically and demographically. The past Chair may serve as an ex officio member of the Committee.
How we do it:

The full Committee meets on a regular basis to discuss matters of mutual concern and benefit.

Review budgets of Championships and take appropriate action with event Chairs.

Review recommendations presented by the full Committee and take appropriate action.

Make reports and recommendations as prescribed to the Board of Directors.

Build a strong race management program for the junior women's championship regattas.

Develop, coordinate and oversee the Championship Conditions, notices of race and sailing instructions, as well as consider and recommend improvements in the racing rules, sailing instructions, race committee and protest committee procedures.

Work with US Sailing's Olympic Sailing Committee to develop strong junior women's racing internationally.

The Committee actively promotes the purpose of these two events both regionally and nationally by participating in the meetings and events which promote the spirit and goals of Junior Women's sailing.
