Daily Reports
Day 2- Thursday, August 10

The first day of racing for the Chubb US Junior Single and Doublehanded Sailing Championship for the Smythe and Bemis Trophies was washed out by a series of thunderstorms that parked over Galveston Bay.  PRO Jim Tichenor initially had an on-shore postponement until early afternoon.  A breeze came in and it appeared that the storms were by-passing the venue.  However, once the fleet assembled at the race course the storm coalesced into a single blob, changed direction and headed straight for the boats.  A few lightning strokes in the distance pretty much sealed the deal.  N over H appeared and we went home.

The storms lingered over the venue all afternoon and the racing for the day was called at 1635.

The time of the first warning for tomorrow was moved up to 1045 hours.

 We’ll try it again tomorrow.
