The second day of racing was with rolling and choppy seas. Under cloudy skies again today with winds building to 14 knots eleven team fought hard in three races to see who was the best.  Three races were held under sometimes tough conditions.

The Area G team (Vicki Sodaro, Stephanie Wondolleck, Karina Vogen Shelton, and Emily French) continues to hold a  commanding lead.  Sodaro, who won the championship in 2002, looks in a strong position to do it again.

The real battle is for second and third place.  New York's team of Anne Mooney (Helm), Christina Blaise, Alexandra Hahn and Nina DeNigris are holding onto second place by just one point, with 31.  Right on their heels are Area A's team Natalie Coleman-Fuller (Helm), Allison Coleman, Margaret Sampson, and Sara Evans with 32 points and the Southern Californian team of Susan Taylor (Helm), Kellie Fennessy, Denise George and Michelle Ondrey, who slipped to fourth after a DSQ in race 6 and currently have 33 points.

. umpy seas were starting to take a toll on equipment and sailors, so the decision was made to call it a day at three races and let the women go in for some socializing and massages.

With five races left to sail, it will be a tough fight.  National Women's Championship chair, Betsy Beddow noted that the fleet was well matched and the racing tight.
