U.S.  Women's Sailing  Championship 2006
Wednesday, September 13

Conditions:

Today marked the registration, clinic, and opening ceremonies for the 2006 U.S. Women's Sailing Championship for the Mrs. Charles Francis Adams Trophy.  This trophy was one of the first women's sporting trophies and is among the most prestigious in the sport of sailing.

Eleven teams of women from all over the United States arrived at Edgewater Yacht Club for the clinic, sponsored by Rolex Watch U.S.A. Inc.  Opening Ceremonies followed the clinic, presented by the International Order of the Blue Gavel, where officials, host families, the teams themselves, a club flag line & trustees were invited.  Dry Creek Vineyard, a sponsor of US SAILING's adult championships, provided the wine.

Tomorrow starts the first day of racing, which has been shortened from five days to four this year.  The number of races will remain the same, but the shortened format should make for better racing for the teams.  The forecast is for cloudy skies, but westerly breezes.
