U.S.  Women's Match Racing Championship 2006
Thursday, November 9

As the teams towed out to the race course, the weather did not look any better than yesterday. But then after an hour or so of waiting, the breeze began to fill and the racing commenced.

With a very strong current running across the course, the race committee started the racing, and ran the rest of the flights for round robin one - running each on the heels of the next.  The breeze never varied much in speed, but the shifts back and forth on the course, kept the race committee very busy.

Sandy Hayes had a big day, running the table and finishing the first round robin with score line of 7-1.  Liz Baylis' San Francisco Women's Match Race Team ended the day with a 6-2 record.  Deb Cappozzi's team had a decent day, going 3-2 after their perfect 2-0 record yesterday, finishing the RR with a score of 5-2.  Katy Lovell’s team also had a good day, running off a 4-1 today..

The tow home was eventful, ending in the dark!  There are also two red flag protest hearings happening this evening.

At the end of the Round Robin the scores are as follows:

Sandy Hayes 7-1

Liz Baylis 6-2

Katy Lovell 5-3

Deb Capozzi 5-2

Louise Bienvenue 2-5

Liz Hjorth 3-4

Samantha Treadwell 4-3

Angela Scheiber 2-6

Charlie Arms 0-8

(these scores are DEFINITELY preliminary, added up in the dark, and awaiting hearings)

Now for those of you paying attention to the math, yes there are two matches missing.  If you remember, yesterday the RC abandoned 2 matches in the third flight.  These matches, Hjorth v Beinvenue and Treadwell v Capozzi, are still left to run, and will be run - if necessary - after the end of the 2nd round robin.

All are hoping for good breeze tomorrow, so that we can run the entire round robin (all 9 flights) before moving on to the semi-finals.
