Day 3- Saturday, August 19

Well we had it all today at the U.S. Singlehanded Championships at Milwaukee Yacht Club.  Yesterday, the first day of racing, we were only able to get in one race.  Terry Bischoff and his Race Committee went out onto the water today with the anticipation of running five races.  Everyone left the dock about 0900, we returned at about 1630 with five races completed.

We saw every kind of wind.  From a postponement of the first race because of too little wind to running the last race in about 25 knots of breeze, the sailors saw it all.  The wind started out of the northwest and was shifting 15 to 20 degrees, 290 to 310.  This caused the race committee to Charlie in every race.  In the third race the wind shifted to about 010 degrees and came in strong.  There were plenty of capsizes and plenty of planing as further proof that the wind was blowing hard.

With five races today and the one from yesterday we have six races in the books.  We plan on running three races tomorrow with a 1000 start, thirty minutes earlier than the NOR states.  The wind is supposed to continue at 10 to 20 knots throughout tomorrow afternoon, so it looks very good that we will complete all nine races.
