Fresh winds allowed the completion of the Semi Finals and Finals in Newport Beach, CA on Saturday and sailing continued late into the afternoon before the champion was decided.

Brian Angel representing King Harbor Yacht Club (Redondo Beach, CA)   and Chris Van Tol representing Bayview Yacht Club (Detroit, MI) both won their Semi Final matches 2-0 to earn their way into the finals. The two sailed four highly contested matches, but  Angel's  team went on to a 3-1 victory to claim victory.  Brian Angel (Huntington Beach, CA) with his crew of Payson Infelise (Long Beach, CA)  and David Hochart (San Diego) are the 2005 U.S. Match Racing Championship hosted by Newport Harbor Yacht Club.

In the Petit Finals, John Loe of Southern Yacht Club (New Orleans, LA)  took 3rd place in the Petit Finals with a 2-0 win over David Rosow Jr of Pequot Yacht Club (Southport, CT).

Brian Angel and team will be the 2006 representative to the Semi Finals of the Nations Cup to be held in the US Virgin Islands.  The 2005 Champion is also qualified to invited to the Knickerbocker Cup and the Ficker Cup in 2006.
