Regatta Chair Dan DeLave reports:
For the third straight day we were
able to get off a fair number of races. Today there were four as
compared to the five that we got off the last two days.
The last couple of days the conditions
have been typical Long Beach with winds up to 16 knots. The day
started off with light winds and a big barge that challenged the race
committee. In the end, the best choice was to shorten the course at
the leeward mark and all were happy with that. We then had to find a
way around the tanker and stay clear of another premiere,
Congressional Cup Match Race event going on in the same area.
We were able to thread the needle and
get some good races in 6 to 10 knot breezes. The courses had the make
adjustments in each of the races but the PRO with the mark boats were
able to make quick changes which made for great racing. Greg
Thomas/Jacques Bernier remain in the lead but Stan Schreyer and
Jonathan Farrar's solid results have moved them into second with
Pete Melvin/ Jay Glaser and John Tomko/ Ian Billings tied for third.
Everyone is looking forward to more
great racing tomorrow. We are being blessed with nice conditions
until the end of the event according to the weather reports.
