Full Report - Day 2

Weather Conditions

August 9, 2008

Day two started off with a short postponement while the fleet waited for the north wind to fill in. Once it did three races were completed in light, puffy and shifty conditions that challenged both the competitors and the Race Committee. Throughout the morning the fleet raced in fairly tight formation with frequent changes in place. By the end of the morning David Loring had won his third race of the series as had Cam Cullman.

Once again anticipating that the typical southwest sea breeze would arrive in the afternoon PRO Bill Kirkpatrick had the sailors break for lunch while the wind came around. Just as expected, the breeze did come in and two additional races were completed in winds up to 15 knots. The conditions now presented a very different kind of challenge, but the fleet continued to swap places while sailing in relatively close formation. By the end of the day David Loring and Cam Cullman had each added another first to their series totals, which positions them at the top of the standings with Paul Forester and Paul-Jon Patin.

Considering the wide variation in finishing places that most of these sailors have experienced it would seem that the championship could still go to any one of them.
