Day 2 of the U.S. Men’s Sailing Championship was a perfect sailing day, under sunny skies. Winds began the day in race #4 at 10 knots and gradually increased during the day to about 15 knots during race #6. All three starts were perfect, with no recalls. The windward-leeward courses were set with about 1.1 mile legs and consisted of either 4 or 5 legs. With several more races to go, it's shaping up to be a great competition between the top two teams. The lead has switched back and forth between past champion, Scott Young of Austin Yacht Club and Ken Kleinschrodt of Buccaneer Yacht Club. Kleinschrodt started off the leader after the first day and but Day 2 belonged to Young with a 3-2-1 series of finishes which propelled him into the top position. |
