Day Two of the Alter Cup - 4/8/3


Tomko takes 2nd in the final race on Tuesday

1945 Racing is done for the day. Whew!
 
Race 12

1940 And at the finish it's 43-Lambert, 40-Tomko, 48-Pitt

1937 At the final gate is 43-Lambert, 48-Pitt, and 40-Tomko

1930 At the second windward mark 43-Lambert regains the lead, 48-Pitt moves up to second, and 40-Tomko drops back to 3rd.

1923 41-Bob O'Connor & John Williams capsized near C mark.  They are retiring from the race.

1918 at the gate it's now 40-Tomko in the lead, followed by 48-Pitt and 43-Lambert

1912 at mark one it's 48-Pitt, 43-Lambert, 40-Tomko

1904 Race 12 is off, wind is still around 13 knots at 215 degrees...

1850 all but one of the boats are ready to go for race 12!

Race 11

1825 - At the finish is Lambert ahead of Pitt by half a boat length.  Hodges was 25 second back.

1814 - At the second windward mark it's 40-Lambert, 43-Pitt, 47-Hodges

1802 - The boats are around the leeward mark, 42-Nelson hit the mark, and did a 360.

1756 - At the first mark it's 40-Lambert, 43-Pitt, and 45-Bergstedt

1748 - Race 11 is underway with about 14 knots of wind and flatter water.

1737 - The boats are leaving the beach for Race 11

 

Race 10

1707 - At the finish 42-Struble, 45-Lambert, 46-Pitt

1700 - At the final gate 42-Struble, 45-Lambert, 46-Pitt

1653 - At the weather mark it's Struble in 1st, Lambert in 2nd, Pitt in 3rd.

1643 - At the Leeward mark Pitt Struble and Lambert rounded almost together.  Struble rounded to port and headed out into the Gulf.  The rest of the fleet rounded to startboard and headed for the beach.

1637 - all boats are around the windward mark.  Pitt, Struble, Lambert in order

1632 - The race has started.  John Tomko was over early.  He came back, dipped and took back off on port.  The rest of the fleet is on starboard headed for the left (beach) side of the course.

1627 - The class flag is up.  The sequence is underway

1623 - The last boat has left the beach.  Wind is 18 knots at 205 degrees.  Waves are 3 to 4 feet.

1620 - The boats have been released from the beach and are coming out for race 10.

1530 - A spinnaker pole has broken and we are holding for race 10.  We expect to begin shortly after 1600.

 

Race 9

1505 At the finish it's Struble followed very closely by Hodges.  The big gap is now between 2nd and 3rd.  43-Tomko took 3rd.

1457 At the second windward mark it is still it 41-Struble, 44-Hodges, 46-Korzeniewski

1447 At the gate it 41-Struble, 44-Hodges, 46-Korzeniewski

1442 At the first Mark it's: 41-Struble, 44-Hodges, 40-King

The boats are on the way out to the course for Race 9...

 

Race 8

And at the finish it's Struble, Scace, Korzeniewski

 

13:42 At the final gate rounding it's 43-Struble, 46-Scace, 47-Korzeniewski

1337 At the 2nd windward boat 43-Struble, 46-Scace, 47-Korzeniewski

1330 At the gate it's 43-Struble, 48-Mooneyham, 42 Bergstedt

1325 At the top it's 43-Struble,42-Bergstedt,48-Mooneyham

1301 - The boat has been repaired and all boats are on the way to the course

1245 - We are in a  holding pattern again while a spinnaker bale is replaced on one of the boats (45)

 

Race 7

1215 - finishers in order
46-Hodges
43-Wallace
41-Lambert
47-Tomko
44-Mooneyham
48-Moore
40-Marshack
49-Ingram
45-Bird
42-Newkirk

1211 - final gate: 46-Hodges, 43-Wallace, 41-Lambert

1204 - 2nd windward mark: 46-Hodges followed by a big bunch led by 44-Wayne Mooneyham & 43-Wallace

1152 - First Gate, 46-Hodges, 43-Wallace, 40-Marshack

1145 - The leaders are around mark 1...  46-Bob Hodges, 41-Brian Lambert, 47-John Tomko

1139 - Race 6 Starts

1128 - The last boat is on the water heading for the course.

1125 - final boat is preparing to leave the beach.  Racing should begin shortly.

1055 - 9 boats are circling the RC.  1 boat is on the beach for rudder adjustment.  Racing is about to get under way

1000 - The committee boat is on the way out to the course.  It's looking like the wind might be starting to fill.  We are however still under postponement.

0900 - We are under postponement.  There is no wind at the moment.  A line of thunderstorms passed through the area starting about 4:00am and finishing around 8:00am.
