Commentary
- Readership
continues to grow at a healthy pace.
We had 112,042 visits last year.
People are interested in the topic.
We are the second most visited volunteer built section of the
site, 12,063 visits behind Training and that gap is narrowing.
- The
site continues to be maintained with 1 tweaking a week, and
sometimes more.
Proposed Projects
- There
are 97 other sections of the website, just like ours.
Each section would like to have a link to their section on
the homepage in blinking lights.
Currently the sections that are in blinking lights are:
Calendar; Store; Membership; US SAILING Foundation; Getting Started;
Education; Youth; Racing; Olympics; and, About US SAILING.
Some people higher up in the food chain long ago placed
Safety in the drop down menu under the category of “Education.”
So the link exists on the homepage, but it just may not be
where people expect to find it (maybe visitors expect to find it
under the “Racing” section?).
Honestly, this will always be a struggle.
With 97 other sections vying to be number one, no one will
ever be satisfied with how they will be targeted.
Should the committee desire to become more visible from the
homepage, I would recommend shifting safety out from under the
Education drop down menu and placed in the Racing drop down menu.
Completed Projects
- Added
Fall 2004 Minutes and Spring 2005 Agenda.
SAS Seminars are added to the site’s calendar within
24 hours of the contract being signed.
