* A motion was passed to be presented to the Offshore Council and thence to the Board of Directors, that: All 2002 US SAILING sanctioned Safety at Sea Seminars meet the requirements of section 6 (Training) of the ISAF Special Regulations 2002-2003 Governing Offshore and Oceanic Racing including US SAILING Prescriptions. * Chairman Naranjo is to create a working committee consisting of Safety at Sea committee members, and members of other appropriate committees, for the purpose of developing a safety at sea curricula to offer to US SAILING members. * Dr. Edwin "Gary" Fischer could not attend the meeting, however, the committee wishes for his eventual report to be copied to the Sports Medicine Committee. * Bill Doelger is to head a group to clarify the Special Regulations requirements for crash bulkheads for multihulls. The group should also review all other Multihull Special Regulations to be sure that the requirements, as printed, are correct. Reference is made to the motions passed at the Charlotte meeting. (Click Here for Charlotte Minutes) * Committee members are asked to read and comment on the proposed ISAF regulation for a yachtsman's liferaft. * Dr. Paul Miller reported that he has a spreadsheet comparing US SAILING's proposed Category 5 Special Regulations with those of ISAF, Australian Yachting Federation, and French standards. He will distribute the spreadsheet via email when he gets back to his office. * Dr. Bruce Eissner reports that the ORC and ISAF merger still needs tweaking. * Dan Nowlan was asked to investigate the publication of heavy laminated cards (same size as "Rules in Brief"), one with the subject matter of hypothermia and the other with the Quickstop maneuver to be placed for sale along with all other US SAILING merchandise.
