  • 13 topics of 6.01 Slide Show for use at SAS Seminars - Chuck Hawley by Report.
  • US SAILING SAS Seminar Update (Seminar Process, Administration, Schedule) – Dan Nowlan.

Dan Nowlan reported on the status of safety seminars for Category 1 and 0 offshore sailors. US SAILING has assumed full responsibility for approving seminars so that they meet standards and for providing defined administrative support and publicity.  A seminar planning document has been developed.  It is available on the web site.  Hard copies can be obtained from Donna Leary, who is assigned to manage seminar matters in the Offshore Office.  Interest in seminars has increased.  We are ahead of last year in number of seminars and will likely have a record number of participants.  Several entirely new venues have contacted us, and some have already started the process.  US SAILING provides sponsorship support as well as proprietary materials and certification to seminars and participants.  There is a per-participant fee.

Discussion ensued about the fee, the associated services and products, and considerations for existing US SAILING membership.  The committee also discussed sanctioning, whether of the seminars themselves, or for events whose sanctioning might include seminar requirements.

There was a brief discussion of recognizing ISAF safety certification for non-US nationals who compete in US Category 1 and 0 events, as well as both Special Regulations and safety certification applications in international racing (i.e. races with termini in more than one country.)
