US SAILOR Of The Week
Laura Mock

Laura Mock

When husband Rob Mock and father-in-law Clay Mock approached Laura (Newbury, OH) about being foredeck of their new J/105, she had a big challenge in front of her. She had never sailed, yet her skipper and main trimmer had been racing together for years. And then there was her sea sickness. Armed with Dramamine, Laura now races club and regional regattas as well as hosts an all-woman team. In her off time, she and her husband take their young son Ryan out sailing with the prospect of adding him to a future racing crew roster.

Laura is energetic, enthusiastic, and is always anxious to learn more about the sport. Not only can she tell you about the latest class sail offering from North Sails but she can also make recommendations on foul weather gear. She’s come a long way!
