Tom Farquhar

Tom Farquhar

Tom Farquhar has been a sailor since he was a student at MIT and recently competed in the Herreshoff 12 1/2 Nationals. But Tom has made his name in the sailing world as a highly respected sailing official on a national and international level. As an International Judge and Race Officer, Umpire, Chairman of US SAILING's Appeals Committee, and other capacities, Tom travels the world for the sport he loves. In 1996, Tom found himself in Savannah, GA, as one of the leading race officials at the Olympic Games' sailing event. If Tom had a trophy case for awards he has received, it would have to be pretty big. From national awards from US SAILING and the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association to awards from local sailing organizations such as the one he recently received for outstanding service to the Buzzards Bay Regatta, Tom is a rock star in the world of race management. But for him, it’s not about the awards, it’s about giving back to the sport.
