General Services Committee
Report
March 19, 1999
There are no board action items.
The committee’s terms of reference were reviewed, amended and
adopted. A copy was delivered to Charley Cook.
A motion was made and approved to do a test marketing program to 100
race sponsors where a US SAILING Race
Committee Flag will be given to the sponsor along with a poster for the
organizer’s bulletin board carrying membership applications.
A motion was approved wherein staff will investigate providing a
Rulebook, Appeals Book, Race Management Handbook and Instructor Training
in exchange for the organizer requiring US SAILING
membership in all races they sponsor.
A motion was approved in which staff is to identify one high profile
regatta where US SAILING will pay for
regatta hats, if all recipients are, or become, a US
SAILING Member and that a social event is held at the regatta
which requires possession of the regatta hat.
A concept was presented that US SAILING
purchase race marks with the US SAILING
logo applied, in bulk. Then US SAILING sell
them at the volume price for those club’s that need marks. Placing the
US SAILING logo on the racecourse, ala the US
SAILING Race Committee Flag is appropriate. These marks would be
dropped shipped from the factory.
Discussed was the concept that US SAILING
purchase racing marks with the US SAILING
logo painted on them. Then sell them to organizations in small
quantities at the bulk rate price. This assists in identifying
that the race course if overseen by US SAILING
and puts US SAILING's image in the right
place.
The Committee will attempt to create a marketing plan which will
encompass all marketing plans of committees and councils.
Respectfully Submitted,
Gene T. McCarthy, Chair |
