General Services Committee Agenda
Saturday, October 24, 1998
9:30am - 2:30pm
- Do we have the capability to sell "Sailing?" If
the answer is yes, tell us how. Through non-boating
magazines? Via plants for neighborhood newspapers?
Through a speakers bureau (talking to whom)? Does the selling
of "Sailing" do anything for the NGB?
- What can we do to penetrate the One-Design classes to a greater
degree? So many classes hold championships using yacht clubs
and US SAILING designees (Judges, etc.).
- Should we attempt to rid ourselves of the "elitist"
image? Would a cartoon included in our mailings soften our
hard appearance?
- Can we identify streams of entry into the sport?
- It is a given that many people go to sailing schools. How
can we hold them in the sport after graduation?
- Should US SAILING broaden its membership base by seeking the
non-racing sailor? It is a given there are more than them than
us!
- The strategic plan states 70,000 members by 2002. Can we
reach this goal?
- Any other matter, if time allows.
