Junior Road to Rolex Clinic

 

Participants of the U.S. Junior Women's Doublehanded Championship are invited to attended the 2008 Junior Road to Rolex Clinic. Held July 6-7, 2008, the two-day keelboat clinic was a new initiative in 2007 for US SAILING and Rolex to prepare junior women for the Rolex International Women's Keelboat Championship, October 12-17, 2009 in La Porte, Texas. This is the only Junior Road to Rolex Clinic for 2008 and will be limited to 20 participants.  No prior keelboat experience was needed. Coaching and classroom instruction, J/24 keelboats, meals and housing will be provided.

Participants will receive an instruction manual developed by five-time Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year Betsy Alison (Newport, R.I.). Alison, an internationally recognized sailing educator and coach, has won the biennial Rolex IWKC five times.

 

Also available to Junior Women is the Next Step to Rolex program to be held at Houston Yacht Club in October 2009 , dates to be announced

This is the 13th biennial running of a regatta that attracts over 60 international teams that often include Rolex Yachtswomen of the Year, Olympic medalists, world champions and America's Cup veterans. The Rolex IWKC is open to all women sailors and encourages women of all ages with varying levels of experience to compete.
