Preliminary results posted, pending the end of the protest window.

20 June 2004 - 13:40

The RC has finished the second Gold race and sent them in to rotate boats - they are going for a third Gold race.  Silver fleet is done for the day.

20 June 2004 - 12:57

Gold is racing...

20 June 2004 - 12:26

Gold fleet still on the water - first there was a big barge, then we got a start off.  An 80-degree shift forced abandonment.  Racers are back in the starting area as the RC resets the course.

20 June 2004 - 11:28

Gold Fleet is on the water for their second race, but a persistent shift has resulted in an AP.  RC is resetting a course.

20 June 2004 - 10:44

Back on-line after some difficulties - what an amazing day yesterday!  Results are posted, and we were able to get in seven races.  That enabled us to make the cut at dinner last night.  Gold racing commenced at 09:04 this morning and Silver fleet is just finishing their first race.  Bret Sullivan has retired from this race.

Items of note - in the last race last night (Race 8), three OCS boats did not restart.  Chris Sawyer retired in Race 7.  I'll have all the mark roundings up once we get final results and awards done and posted.  No races will start after 14:00.

Race four -

Wind's picked up really nicely - looks like a regatta now!  Had to stand on the beach to resolve some issues, so I missed the roundings...  here's the finishes:

19 June 2004, 13:30

Fleet is on the water for race two!  Solid 10-12 knots from 310.  Flat water, lots of sunshine, big smiles!

19 June 2004, 12:20

After hours under AP, the Beach Captain is now moving the fleet down to the beach.  A thick fog is lifting and a sailable breeze is filling in.  The breeze is forecast to build all day.

18 June 2004, 18:51

Sorry for the gap - second flight was off the beach, but a big shift associated with a thunderstorm passing to the southwest forced the RC to begin resetting the course.  Lightning was observed close enough that the RC sent the fleet to the beach.  AP over A is flying - one race completed.

18 June 2004, 17:40

First race complete.  Diamond (no kidding), Jeffers, Kast, McVeigh, Rejda, Sullivan, DeLave, Sajdak, Korz.

18 June 2004, 17:15

First C rounding - Jeffers, Sullivan, Sajdak, DeLave, Korz, Kast, McVeigh, Rejda, Diamond.

Race 1 is underway.  First A mark rounding - DeLave, Jeffers, Sajdak, Sullivan, Korz, Rejda, Kast, McVeigh, Diamond.  9 Boats on the water - wind 6-7 at 115.

18 June 2004, 14:00

Incredibly, we're still under postponement with less than two knots of a southerly.

18 June 2004, 10:50

A bit of excitement this morning - the northerly, offshore breeze freshened nicely at 09:30.

The RC hit the water and the fleet quickly dressed to move the boats down to the water.  The north zephyr has now died on-shore as the southerly sea breeze tries to fight in.  AP is back up.

18 June 2004, 07:45

Again we're hopeful - the forecast calls for some breeze as the haze burns off in the late morning.

The OA has revised the schedule and boat assignments to reflect two missed days of racing.

The Laser North Americans are six or seven miles away and equally frustrated.

17 June 2004, 16:10

Competitors released on their own recognizance as the rain seems to have settled in.

We'll try again tomorrow.

17 June 2004, 13:20

Approaching thunderstorm has resulted in the fleet de-rigging.

Still under postponement, obviously - we'll see what's on the other side of this cell.

17 June 2004, 10:45 AM

Fleet remains under postponement - afternoon forecast is looking promising.

16 June 2004, 18:30 EST

AP over A is flying - the club has tapped a fresh keg and the steaks are sizzling over glowing coals.

More from CT tomorrow morning.

16 June 2004, 17:30 EST

A breath or two, but nothing substantive - RC likely to call it for the day at 18:30 local time.  Fleet is firing up the barbeques.

Hospitality here is terrific - a very pretty place to while away the afternoon.  Hope for better tomorrow.

16 June 2004, 16:20 EST

Not looking good for the home team... still under postponement while the fleet seeks ways to amuse itself ashore.

Foosball Championship underway, canasta, ping pong and a lot of dandy games.

16 June 2004, 13:00 EST

STILL under postponement...  do a little dance....

16 June 2004, 12:00 EST

At Roton Point, the Alter Cup Fleet is currently under postponement due to a lack of sailable breeze.

More news when the wind picks up!
