Race 15

Boat 44-Bird hailed protest while crossing the line.  They may have been yelling 49-Kennedy?

1545 - Pitt wins, 40-Hodges 2nd, 48-Struble 3rd (WF is hailing about redress)

1542 - At the last weather mark it's 45-Pitt, 40-Hodges, and 48-Struble.  They're headed for the finish.

1540 - Storms are coming up from the Southwest.  It appears that this will be the last race of the day.

1532 - At the last gate mark it's still 40-Hodges, 45-Pitt, 48-Struble...  Struble's crew was complaining about the rudders on their boat before the race began. Could they finally have to take a throw-out?

1526 - At the second windward mark it's 40-Hodges, 45-Pitt, 48-Struble

1516 - At the gate it's 48-Struble, 40-Hodges, 46-Lambert (Struble went out in the middle while everybody else went down the shore.

1509 At the windward mark its 45-Pitt, 46-Lambert, and 48-Struble.  Marc Kennedy had to do a 360

1503 a perfect start

1452 all boats are off of the beach and headed for the course

Race 14

1401 40-Mooneyham takes second, and 43-Korzeniewski takes 3rd

1348 The second boat rounds the windward mark just before Mr. Struble crosses the finish line.  this is the largest lead Matt has had in any race yet, and it's his 7th bullet.

1345 At the gate for the second time it's still Struble way out in front, followed by Mooneyham and Korzeniewski.

1336 40-Mooneyham & 43-Korzeniewski are second and 3rd around the 2nd windward mark.

1333 44-Struble is the first boat around the second windward mark.  We are running another 2G, 3 laps with a downwind finish.

1330 47-Scace is retiring

1313 At mark 1 it's 44-Struble, 42-King, 48-O'Connor

1307 Race 14 is underway.

1248 Race 14 is almost ready.  But one boat is returning to the beach

Race 13

1211 - At the finish it's Hodges, Marshack, and Newkirk

1146 - And at the 2nd gate rounding again it's 49-Hodges, 46-Marshack, 43-Newkirk

1137 - At the 2nd windward rounding it's still 49-Hodges, 46-Marshack, 43-Newkirk

1107 - Race 13 underway

1049 - The final boat is coming through the cut and we will be getting underway momentarily

1037 - 9 boats are headed for the course.  1 boat is getting a line replaced and will be out shortly.

4/9/3 0955 - wind is 250 degrees at 6 knots

Clearwater, FL (April 9, 2003) – Matt Struble & WF Oliver continue their early dominance by taking 3 more bullets, 6 for 6 over the first 2 days!

Another day of steady 13 to 18 knot breezes kept competitors on the water until almost 8pm as PRO Fairlie Brinkley cranked off 6 more races after an almost 2 hour weather delay. Places 2 through 5 in the standings are only separated by 6 points.  Race 12 saw many lead changes with Tomko/Murray gaining on the downwind legs and Lambert/Livingston & Pitt/Shafer getting it back on the upwind legs.  In the end Tomko/Murray managed to pass on the final upwind to steal 2nd away from Pitt/Shafer.

The action is scheduled to get under way at 1000 hours 4/9/3 unless the predicted thunderstorms show up.  PRO Brinkley kept the racers on the water late, but with 12 races under his belt Brinkley can cancel racing for the day if necessary and still split the competitors into gold and silver fleets for the head to head racing of the finals.  Or, if the weather is good, he can get in 4 more races and make the cut after 16.
