Oklahoma City Boat Club selected to host the 2003 U.S. Singlehanded Championship – August 6 – 10, 2003.

2003 O'Day Regatta Chairman
Oklahoma City, OK – November 17, 2002 - US SAILING, the
national governing body of sailing in the U.S. has accepted the bid
presented by the Oklahoma City Boat Club for hosting the 2003 U.S.
Singlehanded Championship. This championship event was officially
named in honor of champion and long time New England sailor George
O’Day. It is open to men and women who have qualified by winning
one of several regional or one design class sailing venues. This
event will be sailed in Lasers.
The winner of the 2003 O'Day U.S. Singlehanded
Championship qualifies to race at the Olympic Trials Finals.
The Oklahoma City Boat Cub, founded in 1930 when a few
individuals began to build and sail boats, and subsequently became
acquainted through their mutual interest, has been host to numerous
national and regional sailing events in recent years on the East shore of
Lake Hefner. Members have already begun preparations for the
upcoming O’Day event with anticipation of a great success for this
nationally recognized regatta.
The O'Day is sponsored by the Rolex U.S.A.and Vanguard
Sailboats.
