What
are the US SAILING Championships? How
many are there?
-
See www.ussailing.org/championships
This is the "US SAILING Championships' Home Page. It
conveniently lists all of the US SAILING Championships. From here
you can click on the Individual Championship's Title which will take
you to "That Championship's Home Page" Clicking on
the Trophy Name brings you to the History of that particular
Trophy. The last column is how to register for the particular
event. Championships that are ladder qualifiers allow you to
link to the ladder of that particular event. (the ladder page is
driven by a data base and may take a bit of time to load.)
VERY HELPFUL!! - I recommend that you bookmark this page.

There are 18 National
Championships.

How do I
enter a US SAILING Championship?
-
There are 4 different ways to
enter the various US SAILING Championships.
1. Open Entry - any US SAILING member who complies with
the particular events eligibility in the Notice of Race and
Conditions may enter the event. There can be a maximum number
of competitors for a particular event, so enter as early as possible
before the deadline.
2. Ladder Qualifier - Sailing Clubs have sail offs and
send their top teams to the Quarter Finals. Quarter Finals
consist of the qualified teams from the various Sailing Clubs
belonging to the same Sailing Association. The top teams from
the Quarter Finals continue to the Semis, also know as the Area
Qualifier. Area Qualifiers consist of the qualified
teams from the various Sailing Associations within a US SAILING
Area. A designated number of top teams continue to Nationals,
this is usually the 1st place team or the top 2 teams.
3. Resume - Some events ask that you provide your
sailing resume to enter into the event. A committee goes over
the teams qualifications and chooses the team.
4. Invitation - Some Championships invite
skippers by rankings or because they are Class
Champions.
To find out the basic Entry Format of a particular Championship
see www.ussailing.org/championships
It is listed in the third column. The Notice Of Race (NOR) and
Conditions for a particular Championship explain the Entry Format in
detail. The NOR and Conditions for a particular
Championship are listed on the Individual Championship's Home Page.

What Sailing Association
is
my Sailing Club a member of? What US SAILING Area do I live in?
-
See www.ussailing.org/csa/memberorgs.asp
This page will let you click on a state
and will alphabetically list all of the Sailing Clubs, Yacht Clubs,
etc. in that state. If you scroll down the page there is
another map of the United States which divides the US by US SAILING
Areas. Clicking on an Area alphabetically lists all of the
Sailing Clubs, Yacht Clubs, etc belonging to that particular US
SAILING Area .

When is a particular
Championship happening?
National? Semi or Quarter Finals?
-
National Championship dates are
posted on the Individual Championships Home Page. If the
Championship qualifies by a ladder structure, there is a button on
the page that will bring you to a page which lists all of the events
associated with that event. If the event you are looking for
has no information listed, email the contact listed as to when the
event will be scheduled.

Do you know when
future Championships will be?
-
See www.ussailing.org/championships/planningcal.asp
- This page is generated from a database, so it takes longer to
load. This lists the National Championships 4 years out.
The years that are looking for host clubs are listed there as
well. If you would like your club to host a National
Championship - there is a link to a Host Club Bid Packet with
directions on how to get that done.

Is
there one place on the website that displays all of the ladder events
happening in my SAILING ASSOCIATION and in my AREA?
-
Yes - www.ussailing.org/championships/ladderbyorg.asp
This page has a drop down menu to choose either your SAILING
ASSOCIATION or AREA of your choice. After clicking
on your selection - Click the submit button and a list of US SAILING
Ladder Events will be displayed. If there are no dates for a
particular event - click on the title of the Championship, which
takes you to that event's web page. From there click on
CONTACTS, COMMITTEE or AREA REPRESENTATIVES (a button under the top
banner of the page) and contact the Chairman of the Championship or
the Area Representative. If you do email
them, please let them know that they need to submit their info to US
SAILING. Thanks for your help!
