Experience:

John Dane III is president, CEO and majority owner of Trinity Yachts, which builds mega-yachts and United States Marine patrol craft.  John was a three-time All-American Sailor at Tulane.  He has won numerous National and International sailing championships and recently earned the right to represent the United States in the 2008 China Olympic Games in the Star class.  Another sailing highlight is that John and his son John F. Dane are the first father and son to win the prestigious Sears Cup a generation apart.

John is married to Leslie Weatherly with seven children and two grandchildren.

• "Living on the Gulf Coast I will bring the view from a region that normally goes unnoticed but has a large sailing community.
• Sailing everything from dinghies to offshore keel boats and racing at the club and Olympic level provides me with the tools the Board needs to look at the whole picture within US SAILING.
• I would like to help defuse the mandatory membership issue by spreading the word about the value of US SAILING, the rules, judges, umpires, PRO’s and certification programs provided.
• I want to work on funding US SAILING’s youth’s racing development efforts."
