Jim Capron, Nominee for President

Experience: 

Experience: Jim has been sailing and boating all his life. An engineer by trade, he is the founder and president of Capron Company, Inc., a facility automation design and contracting firm located in Rockville, Maryland. His sailing began in Penguins in grade school, and Jim has also owned and raced a Lightning, J/24, and J/35. He currently races an Etchells out of Annapolis YC and has cruised extensively in the Caribbean, Maine and Canada.

Jim is a certified US SAILING Judge and Umpire, an ISAF International Judge and International Umpire, and a member of the ISAF International Judges Subcommittee. As an official, he has served as a judge and/or umpire at many international events, including the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, the 2003 Louis Vuitton Cup in Auckland, Whitbread/Volvo Ocean Races, and the ISAF Sailing World Championships and the ISAF World Sailing Games.

At US SAILING, Jim has served on (and chaired) the Judges and Race Administration Committees; he has also served on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors since 2001, most recently as President.
