2017 Youth Match Racing World Championship
The 4th annual Youth Match Racing World Championship is being held at the Balboa Yacht Club in Cornona del Mar, CA, from August 1-5. This event is for sailors who will not turn 23 in 2017. Nine countries will be represented, and will race in Governor’s Cup 22’s which were purpose-built for match racing. Representing the U.S. are skippers Greiner Hobbs (Davis Island Yacht Club and attending Hobart and William Smith Colleges) from Tampa, FL, and Charlie Welsh (Newport Harbor Yacht Club and attending Boston University) from Newport Beach, CA. Hobbs’ crew are Colton Carnevale & Noah Barrengos, and crewing for Welsh are John Horton & Robert Garrett.
